Nestled in the hills is the village of Phesachadu, and the simplicity and openness of the inhabitants is very touching.

Khonoma village is a model village in terms of protection of the environment. It is clean and green with terraced fields below.

Rohan and David and their crew did some unbelievable driving through rough terrain to take our group to Konyak territory where we drove through the hills to a tea garden and met the enthusiastic owner, Phejin Konyak who hosted us lunch and beer in her garden around a log fire after a walk around the estate. It was a delightfully lazy day in an otherwise packed itinerary.

Thank you India Trail for taking us on treks through the hills, visits to the villages on the top of the hills, interesting shopping expeditions for textiles, jewellery, handicraft and local food produce, dancing with warriors in traditional attire and the rice beer and a lot more than was in the original schedule!
Will be back for more…
